Flux vacua as supersymmetric attractors
We derive algebraic attractor equations describing supersymmetric flux vacua of type IIB string theory in terms of a doublet of the 3-form fluxes, F and H. These equations are similar to the attractor equations for moduli fixed by the charges near the horizon of the supersymmetric black holes.
متن کاملSymmetry properties of SU3 vector coupling coefficients
A presentation of the problem of calculating the vector coupling coefficients for SU3 ⊃ SU2⊗U1 is made, in the spirit of traditional treatments of SU2 coupling. The coefficients are defined as the overlap matrix element between product states and a coupled state with good SU3 quantum numbers. A technique for resolution of the outer degeneracy problem, based upon actions of the infinitesimal gen...
متن کاملMinkowski Flux Vacua of Type II Supergravities.
We study flux compactifications of 10D type II supergravities to 4D Minkowski space-time, supported by parallel orientifold O_{p} planes with 3≤p≤8. With some geometric restrictions, the 4D Ricci scalar can be written as a negative sum of squares involving Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield-like conditions. Setting all squares to zero provides automatically a solution to 10D equations of motion. Th...
متن کاملExtremal Black Hole and Flux Vacua Attractors
These lectures provide a pedagogical, introductory review of the so-called Attractor Mechanism (AM) at work in two different 4-dimensional frameworks: extremal black holes in N = 2 supergravity and N = 1 flux compactifications. In the first case, AM determines the stabilization of scalars at the black hole event horizon purely in terms of the electric and magnetic charges, whereas in the second...
متن کاملType IIB Flux Vacua at Large Complex Structure
ly in terms of flux-modulus variables alone, with no dependence on Yukawa couplings; and (2) for any particular Calabi-Yau, we can actually produce a vacuum corresponding to any abstract (X,Yî, Zâ) ∈ Xn at any chosen values of moduli (τ, ta) by simply tuning the internal fluxes. As seen from the decomposition of the mass matrix M2 τ,C in (2.23), an added benefit of covariantly constant Yukawa c...
